First, I need to apologise. I shot my first animal ever in the beginning of June. About a week later I made my very first meal out of it: My famous cheeseburger, although not from cow, but venison of course. I filmed the video, but then something happened before I edited. We had a summer. A REAL Summer! In Finland.
There is a saying, that the summer in Finland is short, but at least doesn’t have much snow. This year it was a long and hot one, so great, that I did not spend much time behind my laptop and editing videos. So this becomes late.
Nevertheless, the taste of the burger really exceeded my expectations. I can honestly say, that it was the best burger I have ever had!
When you hunt something on your own, butcher it and then compose food out it, there is just something magical. Maybe that was the extra secret ingredient to make it so delicious (but also my kids loved it, so it wasn’t only me).
Here is the 5 min video tutorial about how to make a similar one, plus a priceless reaction when I tasted it. The actual recipe – or ingredients list – is below the video.
The ingredients for the Best Cheeseburger I ever had:
Buns (lightly warmed over the fire), bacon, onion, lettuce, tomato slices, cheddar cheese and minced venison. For spices I used: ketchup, mustard, BBQ-sauce and mayo.
And smoke! I think essential part of this whole experience was, that I grilled it over the open campfire.
